George W. Long
Founder, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer
George established LIM in 1995, after setting up and running the Asian Investment Management division in 1990 of what became Barclays Global Investors (BGI). George was also a member of the Executive Committee for Barclays Group Asia and the Global Investment Committee in London.
Prior to joining Barclays, George was the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Gartmore Asia investing across Asia. Before that, he was Head of Korea for Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities (now Credit Agricole), reporting into the Tokyo office.
He started his career at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company (now part of JP Morgan Chase) in New York as an international banking officer. After attending its management and credit analyst programs in New York, he was assigned first to the Japan desk where he was involved in lending to Japanese corporates and financial institutions, and then to the Asia ex Japan desk.
George has an MBA in Finance and an MA in Asian Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle. During his MBA program, he attended a 4 month executive program in Japan on Japanese business and management sponsored by the Keidanren (Japanese Federation of Business).
Hajime Matsuura
Head of Japan
Hajime Matsuura has over 25 years of award-winning investigative journalism, corporate strategy and investment experience. He is the Portfolio Manager for the LIM Japan Event Fund responsible for identifying targets and engaging with companies, coordinating advocacy campaigns and building legal strategies.
Hajime graduated from Sophia University, Tokyo with BA in Law. After moving to the US in 2006 Hajime also completed an MBA from Wharton, an LL.M. from Columbia Law School and an M.S. from Columbia Journalism School.
